I follow Eric Chou on and off, periodically tuning in to listen to his music. This particular time when I tuned in, I was not expecting this. ‘You Are Not Alone’ is very different from his past love songs. The backtrack is minimal piano and the melody is very simple but Eric hits the audience with feels like no other. While love songs are nice I think people form a deeper connection when they hear music about self-care and self-love as it reflects our deepest thoughts and insecurities.
I think it’s especially fitting during these uncertain and difficult times where people are isolated, many are jobless, and in US we have a long overdue uprising of pain from decades of oppression.
